Exploring mining heritage through found objects.

Drawing inspiration from Barbara Hepworth’s work inspired by the Cornish landscape, this project explores the connection between place, heritage, and design.

With deep personal ties to Cornwall, I sought to create a multifunctional garment influenced by the region’s mining history and landscape. Traditional workwear elements and the geometric shapes of mine shafts and caves at Geevor Mine informed my design.

Additionally, the bold colours and forms used by artists like Oskar Schlemmer and Ben Nicholson influenced my textile experimentation, encouraging wearer interaction beyond conventional clothing norms.
